Results are in...

The two polls that have been on my blog for the past few months have gotten a LOT of votes. 71 on the Giveaway? poll and 145 on the What kind of videos should there be more of? poll.  Based on the stats, 95% of viewers want a giveaway, only 3 said no.  And on the second poll, Tutorials and Homemade Weapons came in close to each other.  The Homemade Weapons category won with 53% (however Google got their numbers) and Tutorials came in second with a 50%.  A new poll is up asking how much you are willing to spend on the wooden dowel crossbow.  From $5-20.  The two most voted for amounts will be averaged together and sooner or later I'll get to possibly making a few crossbows.

For the next video, I'll be working on something different.  Its probably going to be something big and there will be more than one update on this thing.

Happy new year!

  1. Hello! I stumbled upon this video while I was looking for ideas for our school's Rocket Launching Competition-

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTh9XtshPIg&feature=fvw

your design is really great and we hope to replicate the results too.

the object that we will be launching is a plastic water bottle about 3-4 inches in diameter. I was wondering how we can modify your design for the rocket to fit the barrel (I was thinking, same design but the slim barrel will extend to a wider one to fit the bottle). We hope to launch the bottle to at least 100ft.

I really hope to hear a response for you. We really need to win this competition (to help us pass this subject).

    Thank you so much!

  2. You can make the barrel bigger so the bottle fits inside. This is the better way to go because the bottle being seated on the outside (if thats what your were thinking) will go half the distance as a bottle on the inside barrel. So you can get PVC pipe that fits around the bottle and make smaller rings from different sizes of PVC lead up to that size, looks like the layers on a wedding cake...

If your're launching an empty bottle, you should add weight to the front and fold out flaps to the bottom. Then when the bottle is ready for the cannon, take some toilet paper or cloth and wrap it around the bottle. It will not go 100ft. I shot my cannon with a cheap toilet paper roll and it went nearly 400ft. With the way your building it, it could got twice that.

    Good luck!

Also, thank you for the comment on not knowing how to contact me. I'll be adding a tab soon to the site called Contact Me or something to solve this problem.
